We need your help to plant willows in the upper reaches of Beaver Creek. This little stream is Critical Habitat for Westslope Cutthroat Trout, one of our beloved – and imperiled – native trout species. Beaver Creek is one of the few streams in the area where these trout can still be found, and we need your help to keep them there! Some of their biggest threats are unauthorised trails and fords on public lands, which create bare, muddy ground that dumps sediment into their streams. We will be capturing this sediment by planting rooted willows along the banks to re-establish shrub cover. We’ll also be placing woody debris – fallen trees and large branches – along the slope down to the creek, slowing the movement of runoff and giving it (and the sediment it carries) more time to be absorbed by the landscape.
