Where We've Been

Our Work in Alberta

An open space in the forest with a view of a narrow creek going into the mountains

Since its creation in 1992, Cows and Fish has delivered presentations, field days and workshops to over 92,200 people across Alberta and Canada. By building a common language about the value and functions of riparian areas, landowners and communities can work together on the management of these key components of the landscape.

Cows and Fish strives to provide better information to producers, other landowners, resource managers and the general public through presentations, field days, workshops and riparian health monitoring to promote an understanding of practical solutions to the management of riparian areas.

We raise awareness about riparian areas and management options to help communities address issues in their watershed

Since 1996 we completed,

  • 3288 Riparian Health Assessment Sites in Alberta
  • on 991 waterbodies including streams, rivers, lakes and wetlands
  • representing greater than 2496 Kilometres of streambank and shore
