Beaver Relocation

August 25 & September 3

Bringing landowners/managers together to discuss ecosystem benefits provided by beavers, and to develop a framework for relocating them

The Waterton Biosphere Region, along with Cows and Fish and Miistakis Institute (the Working with Beavers collaborative), are partnering to present two community events focused on beaver relocation.

Beaver biology, ecosystem benefits, and coexistence strategies have been covered in previous workshops, so this year’s events will examine beaver relocation as another tool to promote watershed health and climate resiliency.

Specifically, the presentation will review how beaver relocations occur in other jurisdictions and the biological, regulatory, and social conditions that must precede beaver relocation into an area. Expect some ‘beaver banter’ time to discuss considerations in a working landscape and to recruit interest from landowners of potential recipient sites.

These are free events, but registration is requested. Click here to register
